Vector Restoration of "The Wonderful Wizard of OZ"
In this project, I manually recreated the back cover of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. Rather than using the built-in trace feature, I opted for a fully manual approach, resulting in a higher-quality image with fewer anchor points. I also meticulously recreated the title font, as the original stylized typeface was not available to publisher typesetters at the time. By rebuilding the font from scratch, I was able to maintain the authenticity and historical integrity of the cover.
The left side shows the original cover, worn and aged over time, while the right side displays the clean, high-resolution vector version, ready for modern use. This project showcases my attention to detail, from the illustrations to the hand-drawn typography.
The manual recreation of both the illustrations and the custom font allowed for full control over the final product, providing a high-quality, scalable design that stays true to the original, while being optimized for contemporary print and digital applications.
